Interior Designer: PG&P
Location: Paignton, Devon
Avoca Construction is delighted to have been appointed to carry out the fire re-instatement works down at the former Cattleman's Chicken House, now the Lime Tree in Paignton.
The building suffered from a catastrophic fire and although the fire damage was not extensive throughout the building, the property was subjected to eight hours of water being pumped in to completely put out the fire. Part of the roof was compromised and as such the building was then left to the elements for several months until the works packages could be agreed and let.
As part of a three phase development Avoca Construction have been appointed to carry out the following:
Phase 1:
- Soft strip of all internal areas to remove furniture, fittings and general waste.
- Hard strip of all internal walls, ceilings, floors and compromised structural elements.
- Full strip off and replacement of all slate pitched roofs, mineral flat roofs and guttering.
- A new truss roof to the majority of the roof with a cut roof element to the gable end for structural support and buildability.
- Reinstatement of a timber corbel detail to the soffits.
- Demolition and rebuild of compromised external leaf in isolated areas.
- Re-instatement of stairs and first floor area.
Phase 2:
- The drying out phase. Where industrial dehumidifiers will be brought in to properly dry the building out before the next phase can begin.
Thanks to all our fantastic sub-contractors and direct suppliers who are currently working on this project with us.
